Achtung!
As of early 2021, the Ellison Lake portion of this route is undergoing maintenance, so riders will need to detour starting at Beaver Lake Rd to travel south along Highway 97 from kilometers 29-34. This portion of the trail is expected to be completed by summer 2021.
Summary
Almost entirely flat; some 1% gradient sections.
Surfaces & Traffic
Gravel, mostly hard-packed. Larger and looser gravel sections along the east side of Wood Lake (kilometre 19-25), and near Kal Crystal Waters (kilometer 12½). If it’s a nice day this route will be very busy with cyclists, walkers, runners, and beach-goers. If its a colder or windy day, only the sections closet to Kal Beach, Oyama, and Knox Mountain are busy.

Key Segments
OKRoutes does not promote or endorse seeking fast times on the segments along this ride.
This section of the KVR is busy and populated with walkers and slower-speed cyclists.
Share the pathway with everyone and don’t ride like a jerk. Look out for quails. Only ride above 30km/h if the pathway is clear and it is safe to do so — and definitely don’t ask the senior on the e-bike to motopace you!
